My Determination
Ok, time for an update people. So get something to eat, grab a drink, and get ready for another one of my ramblings. I’ve had some doubts recently about a lot of the things out here. Every once and a while I think that I am not meant to be doing what I’m going to school for. I lose my motivation every now and again thinking that I might not be good at what I want to do. Then I get to see what the finished product is of the games I will be able to create and all that doubt goes out the window. I really do think that this is what I want to do with my life. I can’t imagine any other profession giving me the satisfaction that being a game designer will. Now that the art class is over and I can move on from that I am really starting to get into the whole school thing again. I have and audio class right now and it is awesome. For our last project we had to take a movie trailer and take away the sound from it and then put in our own music and voices and all of that jazz. Mine turned out really good I think. If I get the chance, I’ll post the before and after of the trailer I did. In a week I start my media arts class…that one should be interesting to say the least. I am going to have to learn like 5 different programs in the 5 weeks that I have the class. The main one being photoshop, which I have actually never messed with before so that should be fun. Hopefully soon I will have a class that will start to put all of the things I’m learning to work on a project of some sort. I’m trying to do extra projects on my own just to get more practice with the programs so I can get to know everything about them. We had a guest speaker come by the school who works for a game company in town and he used to be a student at Collins. He told us the most important thing we need to worry about when we graduate is to have a complete and full portfolio. Which means that I will have to spend every moment I have of free time working on my own individual projects to put into my portfolio. I just hope that I will end up being good enough to impress people with what I can do. Cause I know first hand that having the drive to do something isn’t always enough. In the end it all comes down to skill. I’ll do it though…It is my DESTINY!!! HAHA….I felt the need to add some ooomf to the ending and what better way of doing that than to just add the word destiny. It makes any situation feel epic. On another topic I am going to be taking some bartending classes as well. I figured that I am living in a college town which means lots of bars and restaraunts. So be a bartender in this town should be a pretty good job and it will fit around my schedule so it should work out perfectly. That’s it for now, so go read something else. Until next time...
